Witch Hat Halloween Treats

We read Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson for this month’s Virtual Book Club For Kids selection. The rhyming and repetition in the book make it a fun to read aloud choice. And my kids love the cute pictures and the three friends the witch picks up along the way.

To go along with such a sweet witch, we made some candy treat witch hat cones! They were fun to hand out for the kids to nibble as we read.

Witch Hat Halloween Treat Cone - perfect for a Halloween party!

Witch Hat Treat Cones

  • construction paper (we used black)
  • scissors
  • tape
  • small treat (we used candy corn)

simple paper witch hat

To make the witch hats, roll a cone shape from black construction paper, and tape it. Then cut a circle for the bottom of the hat. Put your treat inside the cone, and then tape it to the circle. You can either just tape the outside of the cone, or stick the tape on the inside so that it’s less visible.

To put the tape on the inside, cut off a small piece of tape. Put about half of the tape on the inside of the cone,  with half of the tape hanging down. Put the cone on the circle, and bend the sticky side of the tape so that it sticks to the circle, inside the cone.

You can also decorate your witch hats – either stickers or paint work well!

Then pass out your treats and enjoy!
