Thankful Nature Walk: Acts of Kindness Toward Nature

The holidays are a time when we focus on gratitude, and acts of kindness. We went outside for a simple family gratitude activity.

We bought birdseed, and laid it out by things for which we are thankful. We left little piles of seed on rocks we love to to jump on; leaves, who provide shade in the heat of summer, and that pile up for jumping fun in the fall; roots that support the trees.

We got this idea from our local outdoor education center’s gratitude walk before Thanksgiving. The kids were all given upcycled yogurt containers with birdseed, as we walked through the swamp and learned about nature.

This is now a walk we have turned into a yearly gratitude tradition!
