Errant knight

G brought along 3 knights as companions while we were running errands earlier this week. As we were driving home, we realized that one – his favorite- was missing. We searched the car, but no luck. G told me that maybe this knight (whom he calls Sir Lancelot) will be like Buzz Lightyear, become real, and come back to find G.

Sooo….this gave me the idea to buy another knight and hide him in the car where I knew G would find him. I wanted to tuck it somewhere where it would be possible that we just missed it, but where he would wonder for a second, did his knight really come back to find him? So, while G was on a playdate, C (my partner in crime) and I slipped out to a local toy store and picked up another knight. (Also, on this same trip, I found parts of the first knight scattered in the parking lot. Is it weird that I felt sad for that poor knight?) I hid the knight in the car, and sure enough, when we picked G up, he eventually noticed. I do not have a picture of how his face lit up, because I wanted to enjoy that moment without a camera. Take my word for it – it was adorable! I do have a picture of him happily playing with Sir Lancelot when we got home! He did tell me that he can’t believe we missed Sir Lancelot when we searched the car, so he doesn’t really think his knight became real. But he is so happy that he has his knight safely back at home.

G even brought Sir Lancelot out to dinner with us that night – holding on tight to him the entire time.
